Why I Am Building A App That Aims To Convert The 98% Off Your Store’s Traffic That Doesn’t Initially Convert
This is the second article in this series, read the first here
0.1 — Current status of the apps
Welcome back, in this episode I want to share the first of the apps we’re working on. And how it will generate more leads, orders and ultimately profit.
FreshPop — Gamified Pop Up Widgets
The average conversion rate of e-commerce stores is just 2%.
This means that the money you’re paying for the other 98% off traffic that doesn’t convert is going to waste.
Wouldn’t it be awesome if you could convert more of the traffic you’re already getting and directly engage them through your automated email sequences?
This app offers your visitors a fun way to win discount codes or promos they can use in your store. This increases the likelihood of them converting, even if they initially weren’t that interested.
To play the game, your visitor needs to enter their email. their email will be added to your subscriber lists. Your pop ups can be connected to about 13 email platforms. So you can engage them through any of your auto-responder sequences.
We started building this app in June 2021 and I am super excited to say we’re figuring out the last kinks and it’s almost ready for you.
You will be able to add the gamified pop ups to any website on almost any platform. We added tutorials for about 9 platforms (including a code snippet, which will work on almost all platforms).
The plan is to also launch on the Shopify and EasyStore app stores.
I’ve had the pleasure to learn a lot about the e-commerce app creation and review process during this journey and I want to share it with you.
A small thing to keep in mind if you’re planning to build an app for Shopify. Is that they (at least in our case) test with an incognito Chrome browser.
This means that certain things (like localStorage
or sessionStorage
) work differently (or not at all). Especially since Shopify embedded apps are loaded through an iframe
.
If your app doesn’t accommodate this it will not pass the review. It’s a good idea to read the docs for the platform you plan to build an app for.
This week I learned that we need to ingrate GDPR webhooks into our app to be accepted by Shopify. I didn’t initially know they had this feature but I am quite happy they offer this to their customers, so I am happy to oblige.
If you’re interested in helping shape this app we would love to hear from you.
We’re currently running a small pre-launch limited freebie campaign, claim yours here: FreshPop — Pop Up Widgets
Curious about the next app we’re building (it’s about halfway done)?
In the next episode, I will tell you how you can fire your social media manager
